If MC Pete Prekeges looks at home in his skates, he is. He first laced up hockey boots at the age of five in his hometown of Spokane, Washington, and he has been skating ever since. He describes his early experience on the ice as follows: "No one wanted me to learn how to turn, they told me just to go hard into the corner and get the puck to the skilled players." Despite such motivational coaching, Pete stuck with it. He was the senior hockey league commissioner for 10 years, has coached kids hockey and now serves on the Sun Valley Youth Hockey Board of Directors. Pete still plays three times a week. As much as he loves hockey, Pete loves serving beer and great food to his loyal clientele. When he first moved to the Wood River Valley in December 1990, he began his Ketchum restaurant career as the first manager of Smoky Mountain Pizza. Pete is now the proprietor of Grumpy's in Ketchum and the Silver Dollar Saloon in Bellevue. Married to his business partner and best friend, Molly, Pete is the father to George, 13 and Faye, 11. Pete also enjoys donating his time to his favorite Valley non-profits to raise money with his legendary auctioning and Master of Ceremonies skills.
